Diabetes and the foot

How does Diabetes affect the feet?

Diabetes can affect the feet in various ways. This is due to diabetes possibly affecting (increasing/decreasing blood flow to) your extremities (hands/feet), this in turn could impact the healing of any issue related to your feet.

A complication that diabetes can cause in terms of foot health is a condition known as "diabetic foot", which has varying degrees of severity, ranging from pain and superficial ulcers on the outer skin of the foot to more serious issues, such as deep ulcers within the foot, or in more extreme cases, partial/full foot Gangrene.

if you believe that you have any issues with your feet due to diabetes or any symptoms of diabetic foot, we recommend that you contact a podiatrist as soon as you can.
